William M. De Valk, 56, Little Chute, died unexpectedly Tuesday November 29, 2011 at Theda Clark Medical Center while surrounded by his loving family. Mick was born in Kaukauna on July 7, 1955 to the late Jack and Barbara (Vils) De Valk. He married his high school sweetheart, Cindy Roovers, on October 16, 1975 at St. Paul Parish in Combined Locks.
Mick's love for life was fueled by his devotion to family. His love for Cindy and marriage of 36 years is inspirational. In addition to being a nuturing father, he was a coach, mentor and best friend to each of his children. Papa's highlight of each day was coming home to his two grandchildren, DJ and Brycen, participating in their sporting activities and teaching them valuable life lessons.
Mick touched so many lives in the local community through coaching grade school basketball, JETS football and serving as a member of the Little Chute Fire Department for many years. His smile, amazing personality and enthusiasm was contagious. Mick was also an avid Brewers and Packer fan and a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church. After working at Larry's Piggly Wiggly for 32 years, Mick became the parts manager at Excellence Electric.
Mick is survived and will be forever loved by his wife, Cindy; daughters: Tara De Valk, Little Chute; Abbie (Todd) Champeau, Milwaukee; and Emily De Valk, Little Chute; grandchildren: DJ and Brycen De Valk; siblings: Dennis (Linda), Dawn (Pat) Deschaine, Deb (Mike) Cudahy, Doug (Cindy), Dale (Pam), Donna (Todd) Hurst, Dane (Linda) and Darci (Rich) Van Veghel; father and mother-in-law: Marty and Phyllis Roovers; and sisters and brothers-in-law: Annette (Tom) Van Grinsven, Karen (Anthony) Shablak, Rod (Vicky) Roovers and Robin (Todd) LeNoble. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mick was preceded in death by his son Eric; and nephew Jason Bouressa.
Visitation will be held Monday December 5, 2011 at ST. JOHN NEPOMUCENE CATHOLIC CHURCH (323 S. Pine St. Little Chute) beginning at 1:00 p.m. until time of Mass at 5:00 p.m. The Rev. James Hablewitz will officiate with the Rev. Msgr. James Vanden Hogen concelebrating. Committal St. John Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in his memory.
