Wilfred F.
Loewenhagen
January 7, 2022
Wilfred Frederick Loewenhagen (Wolfie)
Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather passed away on January 7, 2022 at the age of 89 after a short battle with cancer. He was born on November 15, 1932 to the late Edward and Bertha (Sigl) Loewenhagen.
Before retiring, he was employed at Fort James for 43 years. As a teenager, he was credited with saving his brother Eddie from drowning in the Fox River. He had a passion for cars, and would often sit on the porch with his children and tell them the make and model of each vehicle that passed by. He took great care of his cars which were always immaculately clean, and he would be teased that you could eat off the engine. He was an excellent sheepshead player, and would treat his children to expensive meals with his winnings even though they played for 5-10-15 cent stakes.
He is survived by daughters: Lynn Artz, Sharon (Dave) Bloomer, and Kathy Helms; son, Dan (Cindy); granddaughters: Amy Aumend and Geena Helms; and great grandchildren: Gavin and Ava. He is also survived by his sister, Ruth Schroeder; and sister-in-law, Arlene (Pat) Loewenhagen.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 69 years Mary; brothers: Earl (Ilamae), Eddie, and Dale (Joyce) Loewenhagen; and sisters: Shirley (Joe) Vander Wielen and Betty (Bob) Heegeman; brother-in-law, Ken Schroeder; sons-in-law: Steve Heinz and Paul Artz; and grandson, Shawn Bloomer.
Due to Covid-19, there will be no visitation.
Special thanks to son Dan and daughter-in-law Cindy for always being there, and the compassionate caregivers, Amber, Melissa & Jen from Theda Care Hospice for their loving care.
Those we love don't go away. We keep them with us every day.
