Timothy D.
Hopp
October 18, 1968 – April 24, 2020
Timothy "Tim" Hopp Sr, of rural Wautoma, formerly of Neshkoro passed away Friday April 24, 2020 at UW Hospital Madison following a short but hard-fought battle with cancer.
Tim was born October 18, 1968 in Wautoma, WI to Donald and Judy (Cook) Hopp, of Neshkoro. Tim attended school at Neshkoro Elementary School and graduated from Westfield High School. Tim went on to hold various positions throughout his career but found his true calling in road construction; he retired from Raymond P. Cattell Inc. of Madison due to health reasons.
Tim was the ultimate old school outdoorsman; at a young age, he learned the art of hunting and fishing from his Dad and Uncles. Tim's passion for hunting and fishing was shared with anyone who would listen, he was willing to show others his way of doing things through his "all you need to do is this" examples. For those that were willing to endure his verbally colorful, tough as nails approach to learning the outdoors, they secured knowledge that would last them a lifetime. Tim took great pride in knowing that he had taught his sons and nephew his "trade secrets" and unique knowledge of the outdoors; this will serve as his legacy for generations to come.
Tim was multi-talented with his most exceptional abilities shining through as a gardener, cook and artist; he will be remembered for his overabundant garden bounties that he loved to share with everyone. Tim knew "old country" music better than anyone and was an exceptional singer. Tim was extremely intelligent in both fact and common sense. This led to numerous spirited and sometimes side-splitting humorous discussions with his children and his siblings, all of whom will miss him greatly and will forever have an empty place in their hearts.
Tim will be remembered for his hard fists, and vicious loyalty to defend those he loved and considered a friend; many have reflected on Tim's passing with the same statement, "He always had my back!". His sense of humor, although harsh and brash, would keep everyone around him entertained for hours and will be greatly missed. Although Tim battled his own demons throughout life, he recognized those around him that were able to overcome adversity; and made it known to them that he admired, respected, and considered them his true "heroes".
Tim was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Donald Hopp Jr, his grandparents and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Tim is survived by his longtime partner Sherry Soda, his children Tim (Holly) Hopp Jr, Cheyenne Hopp, and James Hopp; those he raised and loved as his own, Justin, Johnny, Emma, Maddie and Hunter; two granddaughters, Lucy and Evelyn Hopp. He is further survived by his sister, Angela (Mark) Soda; his brother, Brad Hopp; his nieces, Cassie (Zach) Walczak and Gracie Hopp; his nephew, Dustin Soda; his great niece and nephew, Jemma and Daxton Walczak and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Tim's family would like to Thank the staff at the UW-Hospital Madison, including the Doctors who tried their very best to provide Tim with additional time, and the kind and caring front line staff of nurses and caregivers who made Tim's final days of life as comfortable as possible.
A Memorial Service for Tim will be held at a later date.
