Thomas Clifford Taplin passed peacefully with his family by his side after a long battle with dementia on February 19, 2025.  Tom was born in Menasha, WI on January 17th, 1943 to the late Cecil and Helen Taplin. He left home to join the Army in 1961 and served until 1964, when he met his future wife and best friend, Ellen Bogan.  They married at Sacred Heart in Appleton, WI on June 18, 1966 and spent 58 wonderful years together raising two daughters along the way.

Tom spent 35 years at Fox Valley Builders Supply, working his way to Warehouse Manager, before retiring in 2008. He couldn't sit still for long, and held a security job for a few years after.

Tom enjoyed many years of hunting with the guys at Coulee Lodge in Mondovi and many years after that going on gambling trips with his wife and spending time with family, including his wonderful in-laws. His company was enjoyed by all who met him.

He is survived by his wife Ellen; his daughters: Cindy (Tim) Jenson and Amy Taplin (Tracy Larson); grandchildren: Brad Leinbach, Stephanie (Matt) Richards, and Nick Leinbach; great grandchildren:  Kaiden, Kaylee, and Kayson Richards; sister, Nancy Packett; and brothers: Richard (Nancy) Taplin, Jim,  and Red Taplin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ken; sisters: Barb Passehl and Pat Gresenz; mother-in-law, Doris Bogan; and his brothers-in-law: Pat, Mike, Dan, and John Bogan.

Tom will be buried at the Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery at King on May 14th and a Celebration of Life will be held on June 22nd. Donations may be made in his honor to the Alzheimer's Association at alz.org.

The family would like to thank his niece Denise, and the other staff at King for all of their help and care the past two weeks.
