Obituary

Thomas Frederick "Tom" O'Connell was called to rest on April 7, 2025.  His life's journey began on May 11, 1951, the son of the late Lorry and June (Gullickson) O'Connell, in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lorry and June; brothers Tim (Joyce) O'Connell and Patrick O'Connell; and brothers-in-law: Michael and Steven Williams.

"O.C.", as he was called by many, was a Navy veteran.  He served his country with dignity and courage, receiving the Meritorious Unit Commendation, Combat Action Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal.  After retiring from the military, he worked for Colonial Williamsburg and Crothall's Laundry Services.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 38 years, Vivian Williams O'Connell; two sons:  Cameron Williams and Jason O'Connell; one brother, Jon (Shari) O'Connell; sisters-in-law:  Mary O'Connell, Alice Mann-Mayfield, Sharon (Anthony) Dorsey, Kimberly (Michael) Williams Floyd, and Adrienne Williams-Johnson; special family member, LaJuanda Gray-Parks; brothers-in-law: Larry (Gwyn) McGee and Thurman Williams; and a host of loving relatives.

Although quiet in spirit and a man of few words, O.C. enjoyed watching wrestling and football, playing spades and sudoku, and listening to his favorite music artists – The Beatles.

O.C. truly loved his family and had a heart of gold.  He will be missed by all whose path he crossed.

Tom was laid to rest in the Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, Virginia.
