Theodore J. "Ted" Timmers, 87, Darboy, died Thursday December 8, 2011 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. He was born in Uden, Netherlands on March 21, 1924 to the late Johannes and Francine (Van Lieshout) Timmers and immigrated to the United States in 1949. Ted married Jacoba "Toos" Willems van Dijk on May 1, 1956 at St. Francis Parish in Askeaton. Ted farmed briefly before working at Appleton Coated. He then worked at St. Joseph Parish for 25 years until his retirement in 1989. Ted enjoyed billiards and playing cards. He was a member of the Heart of the Valley Senior Service Club and a former member of the Golden K Club. Ted enjoyed traveling with his wife and kids, especially to visit family members. He was active in volunteer and missionary work. Ted also enjoyed watching the Packers.
Ted is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jacoba; daughters: Mary Jo (John) Kuzma of Milwaukee and Christine Timmers of Appleton; siblings: Antonia (Frans) Linders and Antoon Timmers; and brothers and sisters-in-law: Wilhemina Timmers, Johanna Spanjers, Riet van Dongen, Gerrit, Jo, and Wim (Gerda) Willems van Dijk. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Ted was preceded in death by his siblings: Harry (Maria), Wim (Anna), Rev. Albert and Jan Timmers and Nolda (Bert) Bekkers; and brothers and sisters-in-law: Matt Spanjers, Cornelia, Eileen and Albert Willems van Dijk and Willy van Dongen.
Visitation will be held Tuesday December 13, 2011 at HOLY SPIRIT PARISH – HOLY ANGELS CHURCH (W5831 County Road KK Darboy) beginning at 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass at 11:30 a.m. The Rev. David Beaudry will officiate. Committal Holy Angels Cemetery.
