Susan
Maki
July 30, 1947 – December 14, 2022
Susan J. Maki, Kaukauna, age 75, died at St. Elizabeth Hospital on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Detroit, MI on July 30, 1947 to the late John and Helen (Rosinski) Polutanovich. Sue married Bruce Maki in Indian River, MI on December 1, 1973. He preceded her in death on February 5, 2018.
Sue loved watching her grandkids participating in activities and sports, her dog Heidi, spending time at her cabin up north, traveling (especially to Alaska), crossword puzzles and doing yard work. She was also very proud of being a Medical Technologist which she did for 50 years.
Sue is survived by her daughters: Jessica Maki and Sara (Ryan) Hale; grandchildren: Logan and Allison; sister, Sr. Mary Polutanovich DOC; brother-in-law, Jerry (Candy) Maki; niece: Jennifer (Mark) Lamers and grandnieces, Hayley and Lindsay; and niece: Kristy (Jim) Veldman and grandniece, Emma and grandnephew, Tyler; nieces: Laura (John) Terp and Cynthia Polutanovich. She is further survived by other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Bruce, Sue was preceded in death by her brothers: William (infant) and Tom Polutanovich; and her in-laws, Oliver and Lillian Maki.
We would like to thank the entire staff at St. E's for all of their support and care. Sue made sure to tell us how much she appreciated the entire staff from the doctors and nurses to the cafeteria and cleaning crews.
A Celebration of Life for Sue will be held at a later date.
