Stephen J. Don Carlos, Appleton, age 76, died Monday, October 30, 2023 at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Appleton after a short illness. He was born in Greenfield, Iowa on March 15, 1947 to the late Gaylord and Shirlee (Welcher) Don Carlos.  Stephen worked as an insurance underwriter at Integrity Insurance Company in Appleton up until his retirement. He married Karin Weaver on November 14, 1997 in Las Vegas. They enjoyed taking trips to Las Vegas during the winter months with Karin's family. He was a member of the Fox Valley Golf Club for a number of years. He enjoyed playing   golf and cribbage, watching basketball and football, but had a passion for the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Stephen is survived by his wife, Karin; children: Kara (Greg) Hoppe, Neenah; John (Lori) Don Carlos, Freedom; stepchildren:  Matthew Weaver, Neenah; Jennifer (Larry) Boos, Oshkosh; grandchildren: Traven, Tyler, Graciela, and Aubriana Don Carlos, Lizzie Hoppe, Sofia and Miles Weaver, and Talan Boos; brothers: Craig (Carmen) and David (Lynne) Don Carlos; brothers and sisters-in-law:  Ron Knoper, Wayne (Teri) Knoper, Bruce (Ruth) Knoper, Marcia DeJonge, and Lois Knoper; and aunt, Shar Fry.  He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

In addition to his parents, Stephen was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Shirley Knoper.

Visitation will be held Friday, November 3, 2023 at O'CONNELL FUNERAL HOME (1776 E. Main Street, Little Chute) beginning at 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m.  The Rev. Lynn Martin will officiate.  A memorial is being established.

Stephen's family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Kaiser and the ICU staff, especially nurses Mary and John for their care and compassion shown to Steve and his family.
