Obituary

Stanley W. "Stan" Kuivanen, Kimberly, age 71 died at St. Elizabeth Hospital surrounded by his family Monday April 12, 2010. He was born August 22, 1938 in Calumet, MI to the late Matthew "Bill" and Lempi (Kemppainen) Kuivanen. Stan married Sharron Hillier in Marquette, MI on September 24, 1960. He worked in agricultural sales until his retirement in 1987. Stan loved to golf, watch the Packers and play cards. He was a gifted woodworker and made many birdhouses. Stan was a proud grandfather that cherished time spent with his family and his coffee buddies.
Stan is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sharron; children: Laurel (Robert) Smaglik, Butte de Mortes; Mark (Lea), Wausau; and Susan (Michael) Charron, Felton, CA; son-in-law: Karl (Gina) Ader; grandchildren: Matthew and Nathan Smaglik, Makenzie and Jessica Kuivanen, Taylor, Truman and Jacob Ader, and Savannah Charron; sister Ruth (George) Landis; and sisters and brothers-in-law: Edith "Mae" Ohman, Richard Hillier, Dawn Nelson, Nancy (Richard) Martin, Judy (John) Jewell, Molly (Gary) Glowacki and Gail Nevela; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Stan was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Jane Ader; brothers and sisters-in-law: Jack Ohman, Marilyn Hillier, Frank Nelson and Mickey Nevela.
Visitation will be held Wednesday April 14, 2010 beginning at 9:00 a.m. until time of funeral at 11:00 a.m. at CHRIST THE ROCK COMMUNITY CHURCH (W6254 Hwy. 10-114, Menasha). The Rev. David Vande Hey will officiate. In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established.
