Sonja Kay
St. John
March 19, 1984 – January 19, 2019
Our precious daughter died unexpectedly Friday, January 18, 2019. Sonja was such a gifted young lady and shared her talents through her love of music. She picked up a violin at the age of 7 and was mesmerized...her violin went everywhere with her. She played classical, gypsy jazz, rock, and anything else that moved her.
After a year of college, Sonja attended The Chicago School of Violin Making and graduated 3 1/2 years later. She worked at Seman Violins, had a shop in Altus, Oklahoma, and Summerville, SC before setting up shop in Neenah. Sonja loved visiting with customers and repairing their stringed instruments and bows.
Sonja is survived by her parents: Jon and Kay "Katie" St. John; a very special family: Tom and Kathy, Cara, Seth, and Bailey, Erin, Shayna, Will, and Harper; grandmother, Alice; aunts: Anda, Lydia and Sue; cousins: Travis, Jennifer and family; and her beloved pets...such joy they brought to her through all her travels and moves.
The family members who left before: Brother, Jon B. St. John II KIA Iraq, 27 January 2007; grandparents: Hugo and Margeret DeJong, Harold Bailey; and uncle: Duane DeJong.
We were blessed to have our dear son Jon for 25 years and our precious Sonja for 34 years...but our hearts are broken...
A celebration of Sonja's life will be at a later date. Flowers are not necessary.
Memorials in honor of Sonja and her love of music, will be directed to scholarships, instruments, or lessons.
