July 30, 1928 – July 5, 2019
Simon S. Vosters, Freedom, age 90, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 5, 2019, at the St. Paul Home. He was born on July 30, 1928, son of the late Martin and Anna (DeGroot) Vosters. Simon joined the Army in June, 1951 and served in the Korean War until May, 1953. He married Arlene Romenesko on November 8, 1956. Simon worked at the Chicago Northwest Railroad for 30 years. Dad had a business sense and work ethic that gave his family many lifelong lessons. He enjoyed cash cropping on his hobby farm. Simon loved trains, listening to Polka music and dancing to it whenever he could.
Simon is survived by his children: Gary (Sue), Darboy; Greg (Vicky Vanvonderen), Freedom; Lynn (fiance Dean Ferron) Francisco, Green Bay; Lisa (Bobby Denst Sr.) Vosters, McHenry, IL; grandchildren: Brad Francisco, Jared Vosters, Jake Vosters, Jen (Andy) Weber, Andrea Milis and Jolene (Brett) Nelson; great grandchildren: Austen and Cecelia; sister, Theresa (Jim) Spierings; and sister-in-law, Jennette Vosters. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Simon was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene; great grandson, Austin; brothers: Ves (Jane), Andrew (Calixta), Norbert (Marian), Bill (Eunice), Ernest, Gil (Isabelle) and Art (Eunice) Vosters; sisters: Liz (Norb) Becker and Agnes (Gordon) Vande Hey; and members of Arlene's family.
Visitation will be held Thursday, July 18, 2019 in the SCHMIDT CHAPEL AT ST. PAUL ELDER SERVICES (316 E. 14th Street, Kaukauna) beginning at 4:00 p.m. until time of Mass at 6:00 p.m. The Rev. Walter Stumpf will officiate. The Rite of Committal and Military Honors, conducted by the Freedom V.F.W. Post 7692, will be held Friday at St. Nicholas Cemetery.
Simon's family would like to thank the staff at St. Paul Home and St. Paul Hospice Services for the love and care he received.
