Obituary

Sharon L. Wildenberg, 60, Freedom, has gone home to our loving Lord and Savior. She has courageously fought the good fight with her year-long struggle with ovarian cancer, and our Gracious God saw it fit to lovingly call her to His side. She left her earthly home on March 8, 2010, with her family at her side. Sharon was born in Kaukauna on September 9, 1949 to John and Betty (Brown) Conrad. Sharon married Mike Wildenberg on May 24, 1969 at Holy Cross Church, Kaukauna. She was always full of life, love and laughs. Her hobbies included painting, antiques, biking and any form of exercise. She loved her annual trips to Hawaii, and most of all, the time she spent at their cottage near Minocqua with her family and the apples of her eye – her grandchildren. Sharon was the vice president of Lappen Security Products, which she co-owned with her husband starting in 1986. In prior years, she and her husband ran several other businesses in which she was an equal partner, including Mike's Beer & Bait (1971) and Quality Refinishing (1976). She was also a service representative for Rogers Benefit Group for 10 years. Sharon loved her God and worshipped Him with her church family at Fox River Baptist Church, where she was a deaconess and served in children's church and nursery. She also volunteered at Colony Oaks Nursing Home, where she organized and played weekly sheepshead games, and saw to it that they had pizza parties on a regular basis. Sharon is survived by her husband of 40 years, Mike; her son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Cristy Wildenberg (grandson Jack), Greenville; her daughter and son-in-law, Laurie and Nathan Abbott (grandsons Joe and Ben), Grand Chute; her father, John Conrad; brothers David (Lynn) Conrad, Tom (Mary Britten) Conrad; sisters Pat (Pete) Graverson, Sandy (Fritz) Gast; mother-in-law Peggy Wildenberg; brothers-in-law Joe (Leann) Wildenberg, Mark (Nancy) Wildenberg; sisters-in-law Sue (Merl) Mantei, Kater (Steve) Gaffney, Carrie Bevers; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Conrad; and father-in-law, Merin Wildenberg. Visitation will be held Thursday March 11, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. until time of Funeral at 11:30 a.m. at Fox River Baptist Church. The Rev. Timothy Godfrey will officiate. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established in Sharon's name.
Our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to St. Vincent Hospital, the staff on the 9th floor, and especially Dr. Jonathan Tammela, Physicians Assistant Martha Kralovec, and the dedicated nurses in the gynecologic oncology clinic.
