Sharon Thompson, 72, Little Chute, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on August 1, 2015. She was born on February 28, 1943 to the late Arnold and Pauline (Larson) Krolow in Milwaukee.
She grew up and attended school in Tigerton where she made many memories and many friends. The friendships she formed during her school days lasted a lifetime. She remained close with each of them, even drawing strength from some, in her final days.
She met the man who would become her husband when she was a bridesmaid and he was a groomsmen in both their best friends wedding. On June 27, 1964 she married Don Thompson at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Tigerton and enjoyed their honeymoon at the infamous Tigerton Dells.
Sharon was very creative and loved to do wood working projects with her husband. He would cut out all of her projects and assemble them and she would make them beautiful. She also had a strong passion for crocheting. Over the years she crocheted hundreds of newborn baby hats and donated them to the local hospitals as well as a special baby blanket for each of her grandchildren. She was proud of her Norwegian heritage and strived to keep it alive by teaching herself the art of rosemaling and wheat weaving. She also learned to cook traditional Norwegian dishes like lutefisk, lefse and rosette cookies
She enjoyed camping, gardening, bingo, cooking and playing sheepshead with her family. In her younger years she spent time as a school aide, a Boy Scout and Girl Scout leader, a religion teacher and a volunteer for just about any other activity her children were involved in. As she became older, her focused turned to her 12 grandchildren. She adored and cherished each one and she made sure her home was never without cookies, dove chocolates or gum. She enjoyed attending their school concerts, sporting events and just being around them.
She is survived by her husband, Don; four children, Douglas (Karrie) Thompson, Bradley (Fawn) Thompson, Nicole (Dave) Wilson, Danielle (Chris) Van Zeeland; grandchildren, Jacob and Lexie Thompson, Nathan, Elizabeth, Logan and Claudia Thompson, Calvin, Paige, and Parker Wilson, Zane, Zoey and Zak Van Zeeland; brothers, Larry (Joyce) Krolow, Richard (Gail) Krolow; as well as many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her father, mother, stepmother, father in law and mother in law.
