Obituary

Sharon L. Fries, age 80, died unexpectedly at her home on May 22, 2023. She was born in Appleton on August 27, 1942, to the late William and Evelyn (DeGroot) Riley. Sharon was raised in Appleton, graduating from Appleton High School, before marrying Donald Fries on February 27, 1965. Together, they raised their three children. Sharon was the most dedicated mom and loving grandma, always putting her family first. Her devotion to her son, Tim, was unmatched. She did everything for him.  Sharon brought him to all his social activities, Special Olympic events, religion classes, and the sports he participated in.

Sharon is survived by her three children: Dave (Brenda) Fries, Wendy (Tom) Hinkens, and Tim Fries; her grandchildren: Kailyn (fiancé Tyler Evers), Ryan, and Owen Fries; and her siblings: Bill (Betty) Riley, and Laurie (Pete) Hermes. Sharon is further survived by her siblings-in-law: Ken (Mary) Fries, LeRoy (Judy) Fries, and Tom Johnson; her aunt and dear friend, Mickey Milbach; her best friend, JoAnn Hamilton; along with many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Sharon is preceded in death by her husband, Donald; her sister, Patty Johnson; her parents-in-law, Cyril and Isabelle Fries; and sister-in-law, Joan (Dick) Williams.

Visitation for Sharon will be held Friday, May 26, 2023, at ST. PAUL PARISH (410 Wallace Street, Combined Locks), beginning at 10:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. Funeral Mass will begin at 12:00 Noon.  The Rev. David Funk, O.F.M. Cap. will officiate and Deacon David Hayden will assist.  Committal St. Paul Cemetery.
