Samuel C. Neuman, Kaukauna, age 79, died Wednesday, October 27, 2021. He was born in Waupun on December 10, 1941 to the late Gustov and Helen (Reinhardt) Neuman. He married Kathleen Lambert (Niesen) in Sun Prairie on May 20, 1995. Sam was an Army veteran, retiring after 20 years of service. He then worked as a maintenance supervisor at the State Capitol until his retirement in 1999. Sam was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 4489 and also served as district deputy for 4 years. He belonged to the Vietnam Veterans Association in both Appleton and Green Bay, the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post 258, and the Disabled American Veterans in Appleton and volunteered at Haven of Hope. Sam taught religious education at St. John Nepomucene and Holy Cross Parishes and was involved in numerous church activities.
Sam is survived by his wife of 26 years, Kathy; children: Paul (Alicia) Neuman, Las Vegas; Maria Gorski, Waukesha; Arthur (Anne) Marquardt, New Berlin; and Susan (Tom) Nitzband, Appleton; grandchildren: Issaiah Gorski, Mike Nitzband, Tyler Nitzband, Alan Marquardt, Andrew Marquardt, Amy Marquardt, Michael Neuman, Jr., Dominic Compton, Sebastian Neuman, and Hope Le Mieux; siblings: Clifford Neuman, Vilas (Karin) Neuman, Lois Larson, and Lila Mae Flores; and brothers and sisters-in-law: Jim (Diane) Niesen, Carol Mandel, Virgina Holbrook(Bill), Eileen (Pete) Gossen, and Jodi (Ken) Schott. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Sam was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Cindi Neuman.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at HOLY CROSS PARISH (309 Desnoyer Street, Kaukauna) beginning at 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass at 12:00 Noon. The Rev. David McElroy, O. Praem. will officiate. Military Honors, conducted by the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post 258, will immediately follow.
