Russell E. Schimmer, Kaukauna, age 83, died Thursday, February 21, 2019 at Matthews Assisted Living. He was born in Appleton on September 4, 1935 to the late Joseph and Anna (Nichols) Schimmer. Russell was an Air Force veteran. He married Gail Chapman on November 15, 1963. Russell worked in construction at Kimberly Clark in Neenah until his retirement.

Russell is survived by his wife of 55 years, Gail; children: Kelly (fiance Charles Baehman) Schimmer, Appleton; Shelby Schimmer, Appleton; Russ Schimmer Jr., Madeira Beach, FL; and Shannon Schimmer, Seminole, FL; grandchildren: Katelyn Schimmer, Clearwater, FL; Hunter Schimmer, Appleton; Zachery Schimmer, Madeira Beach, FL; Emma Schimmer, Madeira Beach, FL; and Zane Schimmer, Arizona; He is further survived by other relatives and friends.

In accordance with his wishes, Russell's family will gather privately at O'Connell Funeral Home.
