Russell A. Mereness, Kaukauna, age 71, died unexpectedly on Sunday, January 16, 2022 following a major surgery.  He was born in Appleton on October 23, 1950 to the late Russell and Joan (Hendricks) Mereness.  Russell loved meeting and talking to people where ever he went.  He loved capturing moments of life through his constant picture taking and was a photographer at heart. Russell loved his church and attending Mass on Sunday. Russell was an avid bingo player for years.  His mom got him started by going to bingo at his church on Sunday nights. Russell was a huge Wisconsin Badger, Milwaukee Brewers, and a Green Bay Packers fan and was proud to be a Green Bay Packer shareholder.  Russell loved to dance and sing to all kinds of music.  He would often go with Barb and Merri to dance and sing along with his favorite performer EJ.

Russell is survived by his siblings:  Barbara Vanden Heuvel, Joseph Mereness, and Merri Bowser; brother-in-law, Edward Rathsack; nephews:  Brian, Scott, Bruce, Derek, and Kyle; nieces:  Lori, Vicki, Anna, and Sara; great nephews:  Jason, Ryan, Kevin, Diamond, Parker, Caden, Paxton, Austin, and Jaxon; great nieces:  Keri, Katelyn, Breanna, and Samantha; and great great nephew, Jackson.

In addition to his parents, Russell was preceded in death by his siblings:  John Mereness, Diane Rathsack and Robert Mereness; and brother-in-law, John Vanden Heuvel.

A memorial service in Russell's honor will be held at a later date.
