Obituary

Roger J. "George" Hietpas, Combined Locks, age 86, passed away after a courageous struggle with health issues on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at Theda Clark Medical Center in Neenah.  He was born in the town of Vandenbroek on March 12, 1933 to the late John A. and Gertrude M. (Timmers) Hietpas.  Roger married Lucille M. Ebben on May 20, 1952 at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Little Chute.  He retired as foreman from the Outagamie County Highway Department in 1989.  Roger was very active in the Boy Scouts of America, serving as a scout master for 28 years.  While he received numerous awards from the Boy Scouts, he was very proud when he received the distinguished service award called "The Silver Beaver."  He was also commissioner of the Order of Arrow.  He also volunteered for many years with the Combined Locks Advancement Association and St. Paul Parish Council.  He enjoyed helping people, donating over 16 gallons to the Community Blood center. Roger loved fishing and spending time with family and friends at the family cottage on Cloverleaf Lakes.

Roger is survived by his wife of 67 years, Lucille; children:  Glenn (Connie) Hietpas, Pamela (Philip) Maturo, Clearwater Beach, FL; Gary (Christine) Hietpas, Keith (Susan) Hietpas, Lynn (Jeffrey) Lamers, Kevin (Christine) Hietpas, Lisa (Todd Biesterveld) Hietpas, Carol (Mark) Casler, Timothy (Cathy) Hietpas, Julie (Gregg) Rogers, grandchildren:  Brian (Jasmine), Bradley (Kelly), Andrew (Katie), Curtiss (Rebecca), Ross (Leah), Chianna, Eric, Ryan (Dannielle), Kayla, Travis (Shana), Zachary, Brenton (Andrea), Alexa, and Taylor Hietpas, Jennifer (Chad) Meulemans, Jamie (Brad) Vermie, Justin, Jonathan and Jaclyn Lamers, Emily and Brianna Rogers, Eric and Andy Abresch, Angela Malueg; 21 great grandchildren; brother:  Marvin (Imelda) Hietpas; and brothers and sisters-in-law:  Grace and Nancy Hietpas, Don (Dorothy) Ebben, James and Betty Ebben.  He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by his grandchildren:  Cara Hietpas and Troy Kaufman; parents-in-law, Bill and Gertrude Ebben; siblings:  Joyce Smith, Melvin and Nick Hietpas; and brothers and sisters-in-law:  Robert (Gladys) Ebben, Marilyn Ebben, and Martin Ebben.

Visitation will be held Monday, December 16, 2019 at ST. PAUL PARISH (410 Wallace St. Combined Locks) beginning at 11:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m.  The funeral mass will follow at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Andrew Kysely officiating.  Committal St. John Cemetery, Little Chute.
