Roger C. Brehmer, Kaukauna, age 65 died Thursday April 29, 2010 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. He was born in Appleton on March 28, 1945 to the late Carl and Mildred (Vanden Busch) Brehmer. Roger married Betty Holtz on November 9, 1968 at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, rural Kaukauna. He served in the U.S. Army for 3 years and was stationed in Germany and Korea. Roger was a member of the American Legion Post 126, Brillion. He worked as a truck driver and retired from Brillion Iron Works. Roger loved camping at Pinegrove in Shawano, hunting, fishing and four-wheeling. He especially loved bow hunting up north with his good friend Bill.
Roger is survived by his wife of 41 years, Betty; children: Todd (Michele) of Potter; Clayton (Wendy) of Brillion; and Amanda (special friend Fred) of Kaukauna; grandchildren: Aric, Riegen, Thane, Bret and Haylee; siblings: Henry (Gerry), Ken (Ruth), Ann (Roger) Schmitt, Joyce (Don) Hopfensperger, Carol (Marvin) Smits, Vi (Bill) Vincent and Dave (Rose); brothers-in-law: Don (Carol) and Richard (Joyce) Holtz; beloved companion Muffy; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by his siblings, Wesley and Viola; father and mother-in-law Lyle and Frieda Holtz; sister-in-law Joanne Burns-Steinbach; and nephew Bobby Brehmer.
Visitation will be held Wednesday May 5, 2010 from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at O'CONNELL FUNERAL HOME (201 E. Main St. Little Chute) and again Thursday May 6, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. until time of funeral at 11:00 a.m. at ST. JOHN EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH (N9125 Military Rd. Kaukauna). The Rev. Paul Fanning will officiate. Military rites conducted by the American Legion Post 126, Brillion will immediately follow. Committal will take place in the church cemetery.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to family and friends, Vi and Bill, for all of their extra help and trips to Milwaukee. Also, thank you to the nurses on the 4th floor at St. Elizabeth Hospital for all their time and compassion given to Roger.
