Robert Frederick Wierschke, age 90, of the Village of Combined Locks, passed away on Thursday, October 22, following complications from a fall. Bob was born on October 7, 1936, in Neenah, Wisconsin to Willard and Hilda (Brandt) Wierschke.
On May 27, 1961, Bob married Sharon Christensen at St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Menasha. She survives him, along with their five children: Randy (Carol) of Kimberly, Wendy of Combined Locks, Erik (Lisa Kelley) of Rhinelander, Nicole (Nate) Werner of Menasha, and Chris (Amy) of Greenville. In addition, Bob is survived by his grandchildren, Jason (Laura), Justin (Casey), Jared, Courtnee Crull (Mason Pfeiffer), Drew Crull, Jordan (Toni Schneider), Austin Overbye (Griffin), Isaac Werner (Tierney McCollum), and Anthony Werner (Klorissa Gabrielson).
Bob is further survived by his great grandchildren: Broxton, JJ, Mays, Sidney and Baby Spencer (due in December), Leanna Crull, Addalyn Crull, and Ever Overbye. Numerous nieces and nephews, along with a special neighbor, Kelly Van Zeeland, also survive him.
In addition to his parents, Bob is preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Edward and Marie Christensen, sister and brother-in-law, Marlene and Leroy Watry, and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sandra and Donald Vorachek. He is further preceded in death by two infant granddaughters, Erin Lee Austin and Jenna Marie Wierschke.
Following his military service in the US Navy, Bob worked 34 years as a three-phase meter tester for WE Energies. Bob also served in the US Army Reserve. In his free time Bob enjoyed going fishing, tending to his rose bushes, and doing woodworking. He also enjoyed good chocolate, two cold beers a day, completing an occasional puzzle, and watching the Packers. Bob also reveled in presenting the “Wierschke women” with a rose each Christmas, in recognition of all they do.
Bob was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Kaukauna, where his funeral service will be held. Visitation will be from 9:30-11:00 on Thursday, November 5, with a service and luncheon to follow. Military honors will be rendered at the service.
The family appreciates your thoughts and prayers during this time. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
