Robert Kobs
Sr.
February 12, 1927 – May 6, 2020
Robert "Bob" Kobs, Sr., Kaukauna, passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2020 at his home at the age of 93. Bob was born on February 12, 1927. He started working at Thilmany's part-time at 15 while still going to school and began full-time in 1942. He joined the Navy at 17 and served in the SW Pacific from February 1943-1946. After his service, he returned to Thilmany's and worked there for 48 years until his retirement. Bob married Rosemarie on June 5, 1948 and spent 56 years together until the time of her passing on May 17, 2004. He was a member of the Kaukauna V.F.W. Post 3319 and the Quarter Century Club.
Bob lived most of his life in Kaukauna and raised his family there. He forged many friendships throughout his time at Thilmany's and long after his retirement. Dad enjoyed the Packers, NASCAR, and signing in. He loved going out for burgers so much, we affectionately started calling him Whimpey.
Bob is survived by his five children: Karen (Tony) Marx, Sue Haen, Bob Kobs, Marge Shepherd and John (Carmen) Kobs; 11 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemarie; parents, Albert and Adeline Kobs; 11 siblings; 2 sons-in-law: Bill Haen and Duane Shepherd; and daughter-in-law, Colleen Kobs.
A private family funeral was held at O'Connell Funeral Home and he was laid to rest at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery. A graveside service officiated by Pastor David Fleischmann with full military honors, conducted by the Kaukauna V.F.W. Post 3319 and American Legion Post 41, will be scheduled for a future date.
To the young ladies, Kelly and Lori at Gentleman Jacks, he was fond of you both. Thanks to Dick Helf for taking dad to his favorite hangouts when you could.
Dad, we love and miss you. May God wrap you in his arms and welcome his son home.
