Robert W. Schmidt, Combined Locks, age 88, died Friday, January 8, 2021 at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Neenah.  He was born in Kaukauna on April 29, 1932 to the late Francis and Mildred Schmidt.  Robert served in the U.S. Army from 1952-54.  He married Dottie Kritz on November 27, 1954  at Holy Name Parish in Kimberly.  She preceded him in death on February 16, 1994.  Later, Robert married Lois (Schommer) Gordon.  She preceded him in death on September 2, 2020.  In his younger years, Robert was a talented pitcher and spent two years in the New York Giants farm system.  He retired from the Combined Locks mill after 45 years of service.  Through the years, he loved to tend to his yard and feeding the animals and birds that came to visit.  Robert also enjoyed fishing and traveling.   His dogs, Taz, Jessie, and Olive, held a special place in his heart.

Robert is survived by his children:  Vicki (James) Jansen, Hollandtown; Mike Schmidt, Combined Locks; and Ron (Jill) Schmidt, Kimberly; step children:  Pam Jorstad (special friend Brian Marsceau), David Gordon, Trudi (John) Trader, Traci (Jim) Seidling, and Troy (Shawn) Gordon; grandchildren:  Jessica, Barry (Amanda), and Nicholas Jansen, Kaitlyn (fiancé Zeek Hooyman) Schmidt, Nicole Rhode, Michelle (Jeremy) Gremore, Riley and Alrick Ristau; great grandchildren:  Kayla, Anna Bell, Peyton, Aiden, Averlina, Wesley, Nona, and Audrey; and siblings:  Al (Carol) Schmidt and Priscilla Mulry.  He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his first wife, Dottie; his second wife, Lois; daughter-in-law, Kris; brother, Jerry; brother-in-law, Richard "Bird" Mulry; and father and mother-in-law, Robert and Velma Kritz.

Visitation will be held Saturday, January 16, 2020 at ST. PAUL PARISH (410 Wallace St. Combined Locks) beginning at 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass at 11:00 a.m.  The Rev. Donald Zuleger will officiate.  Military rites, conducted by the Kaukauna V.F.W Post 3319 and American Legion Post 41, will immediately follow.  Committal St. Paul Cemetery.
