Robert H. Hoelzel, Kaukauna, age 79, died Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Appleton. He was born in Darboy on June 12, 1944 to the late Clarence and Dolores (Otte) Hoelzel. Bob married Linda Fritz on April 14, 1973 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church where he was a lifelong member. She preceded him in death on February 14, 2004 after 30 years of marriage. Bob graduated Kaukauna High School Class of '62 and started a career shortly thereafter as a flooring installer, eventually retiring from D&M Interiors. Bob was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish, hunt, and spend time at the cabin. He especially loved the camaraderie he shared with his hunting and fishing buddies. Bob was very social. He treasured the time he spent with family and friends and was sure to make his stops around town with Janet to see everyone.
Bob is survived by his sons: Greg (Joelle) Hoelzel of Menasha and Chris Hoelzel of Kimberly; special (and best) friend, Janet Pitt; grandchildren: Ethan Hoelzel, Lydia Novak, and Luke Novak; siblings: Bonnie Mueller of Madison, Betty (Tom) Lamers of Darboy, and Ron "Chops" (Dawn) Hoelzel of Darboy; mother-in-law, Ruth Fritz of Kaukauna; and sister-in-law, Sharyl DeVet of Iron Mountain. He is further survived by nieces and nephews: Tim, Jeff, Katie, Krystal, Judd, Mike and Charlie, other relatives, and friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Linda; parents, Clarence and Dolores (Otte) Hoelzel; father-in-law, Elmyron Fritz; brother, Dan Hoelzel; nephew, Michael Hoelzel; great niece, Grace Lamers.
Visitation will be held February 16, 2024 at TRINITY EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH (804 Grignon Street, Kaukauna) from 1:00 p.m. until time of Funeral at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. Stanley Draper officiating. Committal Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery.
The family would like to extend sincere thanks to the caregivers at Fox Valley Nephrology, ThedaCare Oncology, ThedaCare Cardiology, ThedaCare Wound Care and Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in his name.
