Robert M. "Bob" Handel, of Kimberly, age 78, died peacefully at his home on Thursday, October 28, 2021. Bob was born in Madison on September 12, 1943, and was the son of Arno and Vivian (Mack) Handel. On June 19, 1965, Bob married his best friend, Mary Mauel, at St. Mary Church in Kaukauna. He served in the National Guard and spent most of his career as a sheet metal worker. Bob was a member of the Local 18 Sheet Metal Workers, mainly employed with August Winters & Sons and Bassett Mechanical before retiring in 2002. Throughout these years, Bob enjoyed his coffee clutch every morning. In his retirement, Bob spent much time woodworking, whether it was building furniture for his own home and his children's, or creating lawn ornaments with the help of Mary.
Bob is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary; his children: Dave (Roxanne) Handel of Greenville and Lisa (Jon) Piette of Combined Locks; his grandchildren: Janel (Brian) Randall; Kyra Piette; Matt Piette; and U.S. Marine Sgt. Collin Handel; and his great-grandchildren, Aubrey and Jaxon. He is further survived by his siblings: Wayne (Bonnie) Warne and Judy Foster.
In addition to his parents, Bob is preceded in death by his brother Larry Handel, his brother-in-law John Foster, and his parents-in-law, Ambrose and Jeanette Mauel.
Visitation will be held Thursday, November 4, 2021, at ST. KATHARINE DREXEL PARISH – ST. MARY CHURCH (119 W. 7 th Street, Kaukauna) beginning at 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. officiated by the Rev. David McElroy, O. Praem. Military Honors will be conducted by the Kaukauna V.F.W. Post 3319 and American Legion Post 41. Committal St. Paul Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations made to St. Mary Church for masses said in Bob's name would be greatly appreciated.
