Rita T. Tessen, Town of Vandenbroek, age 92, died Sunday, October 29, 2017 at the American Grand. She was born in Freedom on December 31, 1924 to the late Fred and Catherine (Meulemans) Schuh. Rita married Leland Tessen on June 19, 1947. She enjoyed traveling, painting by numbers, caring for her plants and researching ancestory. Rita was a loving mom and loved all of her Godchildren, nieces and nephews as well as her dogs, Skipper, Tiny and Penny.

Rita is survived by her son, Kenneth of Town of Vandenbroek; brothers: James Schuh and Ted Schuh; brothers-in-law: Leonard Tessen and Jerry Smith; and six God children. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to her parents, Rita was preceded in death by her husband, Leland; son, David Tessen;   father and mother-in-law: Alfred and Viola Tessen; siblings: Richard (Betty) Schuh, Harold (Pat) Schuh, Virginia (Joe) Martin, Delores Smith, Cecelia (Joe) Smet; brothers and sisters-in-law: Judy Schuh, Shirley Schuh, Harold (Audrey) Tessen and Lois Tessen.

Visitation will be held Friday, November 3, 2017 at ST. JOHN NEPOMUCENE CATHOLIC CHURCH (323 Pine St. Little Chute) beginning at 4:30 p.m. until time of Mass at 5:30 p.m. The Rev. Ronald Belitz will officiate. Committal St. John Cemetery. A memorial is being established.

We would like to thank the staff at American Grand for the care given to Rita and also to Rita's niece Jan Hoppa, for her extreme compassion and the countless hours she devoted towards Rita's care.
