Borman

Dr. Richard J. Borman
June 22, 1952 - March 6, 2026
Dr. Richard J. Borman passed away at age 73 on Friday, March 6, 2026. He was at home surrounded by his loving wife and children.
Rick was born June 22, 1952, to Richard and Joan Borman in Green Bay, WI. His parents moved the family to Chippewa Falls, WI in 1967. He attended college at UW-Eau Claire and continued his education at the Medical College of Wisconsin. While studying to be a family physician, he met the love of his life, Kathy, and soon asked her, "Do you wanna ring?". They were married in Belleville, WI on May 12, 1979.
Rick's life is marked by the service he generously offered to all those around him. He served his country as a physician in the Air Force. First based in California, and then Texas; Kathy would muse, "How did we end up in Kenosha?" Well, they started their family and moved back to Wisconsin.
Rick was the kind of dad who never missed a chance to play. He would often play nine holes of golf with his daughter, Kate, because he knew nine holes of golf was about her limit, but those nine holes with him were always the best part of the day. When they weren't on the course, they were shooting hoops in the driveway, completely ignoring Mom calling them in for dinner for the third time or in the backyard, while he patiently tossed baseballs her way. He always enjoyed it, even on the day she accidentally broke his glasses with a home run hit.
Rick was always on the move and enjoyed all kinds of sports and activities. He ran 7 marathons, including the Boston marathon.
He volunteered at the cemetery, mowing grass, was an active member of the Rotary Club, volunteered for Boys and Girls Club, drove the elderly for Kafasa. Rick loved to drive; whether it be to move someone cross country (again), delivering Amazon packages, or just a quick drive "down by the lake", he was ready for a car ride. In 2003, Rick "surprised" his wife with a 100th Anniversary Edition V-rod Harley motorcycle. In 2023, he had the privilege to ride it in the Harley Davidson hometown parade with his son-in-law and Jason's twins.
In 2010, he had the opportunity for a "once in a lifetime trip" to golf at St. Andrews in Scotland (and then he had the opportunity a few more times in 2011, 2014, 2016). His oldest daughter, Ashley, lured him and Kathy to France and eventually, Thailand. Memorable trips that he often reminisced about. The summer "Up North" family vacation was a tradition of "unique" lake cabins, no cell service, and plenty of time fishing, whether the fish were biting or not. In 2001, he took his son, RJ, to the boundary waters of Canada for a fishing trip. And was there for the first casts of his daughter's step-children. "There's something about being out on the water."
Rick was always a phone call away. But he particularly loved to text; you were lucky if you knew what the combination of emojis and abbreviations meant. How many family members called for a medical opinion, and heard, "Send me a picture"? He was a master diagnostician and without even seeing you, could narrow down your treatment options.
He loved to go out to eat and was an adventurous eater. What others would likely raise their eyebrow at, he was ready to dig in.
Rick was a "collector" and loved to buy things he already had. There is a whole room in his home devoted to his collection of sheet music. In 1994, a newspaper article about a local church choir planning a trip to Rome, inspired him to join St. Mark's Robed Choir. He cantered and sang with them for nearly 30 years. He continued to play the piano until his last week of life.
Rick is survived by his doting wife of 47 years, Kathy O'Connor; his beloved children, Ashley Borman (Jason Wischer), Kate Borman (Diana Page), and RJ Borman; his siblings, Robert Borman, Randy (Sue) Borman, Russ (Cheri) Borman, Kathy Borman (Randy Nyhus), Mary O'Connell, Bill (Deb) Borman, Joe (Meg) Borman; his siblings-in-law, Maureen (Duane) Wilde, Donald (Christine) O'Connor, Patricia (Mike) Patterson, Becky O'Connor (Barry Sauer), Colleen Disch, Barry (Brenda) O'Connor, Brian (Becky) O'Connor; step-grandchildren Eliana, Trevin and Jaxton Wischer; numerous nieces and nephews; many cherished friends; and the countless people whose lives he touched.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Dick and Joan Borman; parents-in-law, Paul and Grayce O'Connor; brothers-in-law Patrick O'Connell and Steven Disch; his aunt, Sister Rolanda Borman; his uncle, James Borman.
Rick's family would like to sincerely thank the nurses and staff in the transfusion center (DTC) at Aurora for their compassionate care in the last months of Rick's life.
A Funeral Mass will be held for the repose of his soul on Friday, April 10, 2026, at 11am at ST. MARK CATHOLIC CHURCH (7117 14th Avenue, Kenosha, WI 53143).
"Jesus said to her, 'I am the resurrection and the life, he who believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and whoever lives and believes in me shall never die.'" John 11:25-26
"But we would not have you ignorant, brethren, concerning those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep." 1 Thes 4:13-14
