Obituary

Renata E. Vandenberg, Kaukauna, age 97, died Wednesday October 15, 2014 at Appleton Medical Center. She was born in Kaukauna on February 4, 1917 to the late William and Bertha (Griepentrog) Gehrke. Renata married Eugene Hardy on October 5, 1937. After his death, she married Herbert Vandenberg on December 21, 1968. Renata was a life member of the Kaukauna Electric City V.F.W. Post 3319 Auxiliary and a 50 year member of the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post 258 Auxiliary, Little Chute. She loved playing cards, especially Cribbage and Sheephead. Renata was a gifted crafter and was an active member of the Kaukauna Ladies Thursday Craft Club.

Renata is survived by her children: William Hardy, Golden, Colorado; Jane (Eugene) Schaefer, Kaukauna; Constance (Curtis) Wiegert, Manitowoc; and Dave (Barbara) Hardy, Kaukauna; grandchildren: Louise Archelata, Kelvin Hardy, Bill Schaefer, Bob Schaefer, Mary Welch, Debbie Coffey, Bonnie VanEgern, Laurie Kleiber, Heidi Iverson, Becky Barribeau and Mike Hardy; and sisters-in-law: Audrey Hardy, Betty Vandenberg and Mary (Bob) Weyenberg. She is further survived by many great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to her parents and husbands, Renata was preceded in death by her grandsons, Charles Hardy and Kenneth Schaefer; and many members of Eugene and Herbert's families.

Visitation will be held on Saturday October 18, 2014 at HOLY CROSS PARISH (309 Desnoyer St. Kaukauna) beginning at 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass at 10:00 a.m. The Rev. Thomas Pomeroy will officiate.
