Obituary

Raphael M. "Ray" Nooyen, Little Chute, age 80 died Friday May 27, 2011 at the St. Paul Home. He was born in Green Bay on December 1, 1930 to the late John and Virginia (Meyer) Nooyen. Ray married Betty Jean Van Pay on May 12, 1956 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Green Bay. He retired from Wisconsin Tissue Mill (SCA) in 1992. While in good health, Ray enjoyed rides to Door County. While there, he was known to rock pick and enjoyed many concerts in the park. He also liked to fish and visit the chapel at Robinsville. He was an Airforce veteran.

Ray is survived by wife of 55 years, Betty; daughters Reyne (Bob) Vanden Heuvel and Michelle (fiancee George Marsh) Hartjes, both of Little Chute; granddaughters: Libby, Hilary and Lucy Vanden Heuvel and Natalie Hartjes; sister Evelyn (Milton) Vandenhoven; and sister-in-law Lorraine Nooyen.

In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his brother Raymond.

Visitation will be held at ST. JOHN NEPOMUCENE CATHOLIC CHURCH (323 S. Pine St. Little Chute) Wednesday June 1, 2011 beginning at 4:00 p.m. until time of Mass at 5:00 p.m. The Rev. Lawrence Canavera will officiate. Military rites conducted by the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post 258 will immediately follow. Committal St. John Cemetery.
