Obituary

Ralph G. Verbeten, Little Chute, age 83, died Monday March 18, 2013 at his home. He was born March 1, 1930 in Wrightstown to the late Harold and Helen (Nytes) Verbeten. Ralph married Evelyn Marquardt at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church on January 25, 1951. He was a Naval veteran. Ralph retired from the Appleton Papers, Combined Locks Mill after 40 years of service where he truly enjoyed being a "papermaker." He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cribbage and those that knew him knew he was the "lawnmower." Ralph also loved to spend time at their cottage on Lily River with family and friends.

Ralph is survived by his wife of 62 years, Evelyn; children: Dan (Bonnie) Verbeten and Kathy (Dan) Wells; grandchildren: Nanette (John) Gerrits, Eric Verbeten, Nick (Kellie), Dana and Adam Wells; great grandchildren: Hunter and Spencer Gerrits, Andrew, Emma, Maura, Maeve and Bryce Wells; sisters: Lorraine Van Vreede, Florence (Jack) De Goey, Marian (Clyde) Helein, Lois Gonnering and Carol (Ron) De Bruin; and sisters and brothers-in-law: Doris Verbeten, Wayne "Boots" (Linda), Gary (Mary), Dale, Carol and Pat Marquardt and Helen Olson.

In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by Evie's parents, Charles and Amelia Marquardt; a grandson, Ryan Hooyman; siblings: Earl (Betty), Bob and Marlon Verbeten and Blanche (Jerry) Pynenberg; and brothers and sisters-in-law: Dorothy (Joe) Hinkens, Lucille "Toots" (Jim) Pennings, Raymond Olson, Gordy (Gertie), Bud (Theresa), Norm, Helen, Diane and Bill Marquardt, Harvey Van Vreede and Don Gonnering; and special friends, Bud and Millie Eberhard.

Visitation will be held Saturday March 23, 2013 at ST. JOHN NEPOMUCENE CATHOLIC CHURCH (323 S. Pine St. Little Chute) beginning at 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass at 11:00 a.m. The Rev. Ronald Belitz will officiate. Military rites conducted by the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post 258 will immediately follow. A memorial is being established.
