Peter A. van Lith, Combined Locks, age 85 passed away on Saturday May 29, 2010 after a long illness. Peter was born in Maren, The Netherlands in 1925, and was a member of the Royal Dutch Navy at the end of World War II. He fell in love with Korrie and after marrying, they moved to Australia in 1953, where they raised their four children. The family moved to the US in 1967 to be closer to his brothers and sisters who had immigrated to the Fox River Valley. He ran his own painting and wallpaper business until he retired. He liked to sit in his garage, watch the world go by and visit with neighbors and anyone who stopped by to say hello. He was curious, egalitarian, a great dancer and somewhat stubborn. He will be missed.
Peter is survived by his wife of 58 years, Korrie, and family: AJ (Kris), Karl ( Kerry), Marianne (Pat Clark) and John. He was Opa to Kyle, Alyson, Ashley, Greta and Anneke and Opa Pete to great granddaughter, Cecilia.
Visitation will be held Tuesday June 1, 2010 beginning at 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass at 11:00 a.m. at ST. PAUL PARISH (410 Wallace St. Combined Locks). The Rev. James Lucas will officiate.
The family would like to thank Crystal, Jackie, Susan and all the wonderful people at Affinity Hospice Services for their kindness and support during this time.
