Paula L. Heckert, Little Chute, age 61, died at her home on Saturday, May 16, 2026, after a battle with cancer. She was born in Appleton on July 13, 1964, the daughter of Anthony and Karen (Hostettler) Schuh. Paula married William Heckert at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church on November 30, 1991. They shared 32 years together. Many will remember Paula as the friendly face behind the bar at Jacks or Better, Main Event, and Marty’s.

Paula was known for her love of music and attendance at concerts. She also was happy to get to see her son-in-law's band at bars throughout the Fox Valley. She was very talented in the kitchen and loved to send her baked goods home with her family. Paula enjoyed trips to the casino with her girlfriends and crossword scratch off tickets (that she often had good luck with). Through the years, she also loved getting the opportunity to see the world and travel with family and friends. She loved getting to experience the ocean and beaches of Mexico. A cherished memory was getting to swim with dolphins with her family. She loved to sit on her patio, with her best buddy Jameson, listening to her favorite tunes. Paula was very social and loved people, which is why she was so suited to her job. She loved the interactions she had with her customers and made many friends in the process.

Paula was a loving lady with a huge heart. Her world revolved around her family, and she was so happy to be a grandma. She made sure every birthday, holiday, and celebration was as special as it could be.

Paula is survived by her children: Alan Heckert of Kimberly and Amanda (Tyler) Merkes of Appleton; grandchildren: Elwyn and Sylvie; father, Anthony; and siblings: Diane and Mark Schuh. She is further survived by other relatives and friends.

Paula was preceded in death by her former husband, Bill; her mom, Karen; and her beloved dog, Jameson.

Visitation will be held May 27, 2026, at O’CONNELL FUNERAL HOME (1776 E. Main Street, Little Chute) from 1:00 p.m. until 4:45 p.m. Her Funeral will follow at 5:00 p.m. with Deacon David Van Eperen officiating. Committal St. John Cemetery.
