Obituary

Oshkosh – Paul R Hammond, age 53, passed away November 28 th , 2020.  Paul was born to the late Ronald and Janet (Brem) Hammond on June 6, 1967 in Kaukauna, WI.  Paul graduated from Oshkosh North High School in 1986.  As a toddler, Paul had spinal meningitis that caused his profound deafness which he never let slow him down.  He was always willing to show sign language to anyone with interest.  Paul's first job was at Hilltop Bakery delivering baked goods to the surrounding area.  He then worked for Nestle Pizza as a Team Leader where he met many people, he continued these friendships even after he no longer worked there.  Paul married Mari (Weber) May 5, 1995.  Although their marriage did not continue, their friendship remained, as well as being a part of each other's families.  Paul had a love of the outdoors taking advantage of any time he could to get away and fish at his favorite lake, or duck hunting (a love he shared with his dad at Duck Creek, and deer hunting when he was able.  Paul also enjoyed drawing, joking, cooking (he loved to share his famous chili and beef stew with Mari and the kids) and posting fun comments to all his friends on Facebook.  Paul was most proud of his two kids and enjoyed every moment he spent with them.

Paul is survived by his two children:  Ryan Hammond, Oshkosh, Allison Hammond (Zach Dupland), Appleton.  Paul is also survived by Mari (mom to his kids and continued friend).  He is further survived by his sister Lynn (Larry) Brady, Crivitz, sister Suzanne Hammond, Marinette, nephew Bryan (Andrea) Brady, nephew Bradley Brady, nephew David Maker, niece Kaitlyn (Justin) Goldsmith (kids Rio and Evan), nephew Kyle Miller, Uncle Merle (Millie) Hammond, uncle Marvin Hammond, uncle David Kohls, Aunt Carolyn (Roger) Berken.  Cousins Michael Hammond, Shelly Hammond, David Kohls Jr, Jennifer Kohls, Barbara Werth, Lori Ables, Lisa Geiger, Brad DeBroux, Chad (Cara) Berken, Jill (Berken) Whale, and Kelly (Brem) Geib as well as many other cousins including Gary (Bubby) Krueger and their families. He is further survived by his extended family (we always felt the end of marriage does not end us as a family) John and Sharon Johannes (Mari's mom), Mari's siblings: Randy (Amy Coenen) Weber, Jennifer (Chris) Alfonso, and Julie (Chris) Frohliger. He is also survived by his many friends in the deaf community that he enjoyed spending time with and all the friends he had come to know and love.

A celebration of Paul's life and a small service will be held at a later date.  Those who wish to remember Paul in a special way may make gifts in his memory to the O'Connell Funeral Home, 1776 E Main St, Little Chute, WI 54140.

Thank you to the dialysis staff who was always there for Paul.

Thank you to the doctors and nurses at Ascension Mercy Hospital in Oshkosh for their extra care and compassion for Paul.

The family would like to thank everyone who made his life special.  He was a giving man who would give you the shirt off his back (without sleeves of course) to anyone who asked.   He touched so many lives, more than we ever imagined.  Rest in peace Paul, we love you!!
