Paul R.
Berens
July 29, 1941 – March 28, 2021
Paul Roy Berens, age 79, passed away peacefully on Sunday March 28 th , 2021 at Frontida Assisted Living in Kimberly where he had been a resident since October of 2020. He was born on July 29 to the late Sylvester and Sylvia (Rabe) Berens. Over the years, Paul worked in retail clothing, had an antique booth at a downtown Appleton mall, and also was a teacher in the Milwaukee public school system. He attended St. Norbert's High School, earned his bachelor's degree from Ripon College and obtained his teaching certificate from Lawrence College. He also was a member of the National Guard.
Paul thoroughly enjoyed shopping, loved Christmas, appreciated any opportunity to travel with his dear friend Laury and loved collecting antiques. He was a grateful member of A.A. for close to 50 years. He will be remembered by family and friends for his goofy smile and quick wit with a hint of sarcasm! Paul was kind-hearted and endeared by those who knew him best...he will be missed.
Paul is survived by his brother, Peter E Berens (Sandy Stevens-Berens); his grand-nephew Will Berens; and nephew Nick C. Berens. He also is survived by his close friend Laury Ellis; cousins, Paul Gremmer and Lucy Motley; and friends, Frank Fischer and Marcia Miracle.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents Sylvester and Sylvia (Rabe) Berens; brothers, John and James Berens; and his nieces, Rachel Berens and Leah Berens.
A celebration of life will be held at a future date in the Milwaukee area where Paul lived for many years prior to relocating to the Kimberly area in October.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established for scholarships at Ripon College ( https://www.ripon.edu/make-a-gift/ ).
The family would like to extend their appreciation to Frontida Assisted Living for their kindness and care for Paul during his time at the facility. Thank you to Father Ron of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Little Chute for administering last rights.
