Dr. Northam H. "Doc" Stolp, Appleton, age 90, died peacefully Monday June 29, 2015 at the Bridges of Appleton surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Chicago on July 28, 1924 to the late Ernest and Dorothy (Steele) Stolp.
Doc served in the Army during World War II as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne division 505. He participated in the Airborne Invasion of Holland and received many decorations and citations. He was past chairman of the Badger State Chapter of the Airborne Division Association.
Doc attended the University of Illinois Dental School and practiced in Wisconsin Rapids for over 30 years where he was certified for dental surgery at Riverview Hospital. He was a past member of the Wisconsin Rapids Kiwanis Club.
When he wasn't dedicating time to his patients, Doc loved to fish in his favorite trout stream and on Tomahawk Lake, in his boyhood home of Minocqua, Wisconsin; the place he loved most in the world. He was an avid reader, and enjoyed writing, painting, duck hunting, ballroom dancing and woodworking.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Diane; daughters: Kathryn Stolp of Rochester, MN; Nancy Goff of Wisconsin Rapids; Kristin Stolp of River Falls; and Sarah (Roger) Trovato of Appleton, Wisconsin; Seven grandchildren: Michael, Christopher, Casey, Jesse, Madeline, Megan and Daniel and 6 great grandchildren. He is further survived by nieces, one nephew and many other relatives and friends. Doc was preceded in death by two siblings, Ernie (Gloria) Stolp and Nancy (Eloy) Fominaya. One nephew, Peter Stolp.
Private family services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project (http://www.woundedwarriorproject.org), the Alzheimer's Association or the hospice of your choice.
