Obituary

Nellie Vanevenhoven, Little Chute, age 95 died Tuesday March 30, 2010 at Brewster Village. She was born on August 18, 1914 to Peter and Johanna (Busser) Verhoeven in Little Chute. Nellie married Arthur "Archie" Vanevenhoven at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church on August 20, 1935. They enjoyed 60 years of a wonderful marriage until he preceded her in death on October 28, 1995. Nellie was a life-long member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, a member of the St. Elizabeth Society and Little Chute Golden Agers. She was very instrumental in the annual Christmas Craft Sale at St. John for many years. She also initiated the funeral lunch program at her church and spent many hours volunteering her services to this program. Nellie was an excellent seamstress and made many handmade purses as gifts. Nellie is survived her children: Mary Ruscher, Appleton; and Jim (Vicki) Vanevenhoven, Madison; grandchildren: Dr. Ann (Dr. Leonard Go) Ruscher and their children Maggie, Michael and Maria; Kathryn (Jeffrey) Hopp, and their children, Erik and Emily; Amy (Tim) Cartwright and their children Elisabeth, Gillian and Cecilia; and Jay Vanevenhoven. She will also be missed by special friends Mary Gloudemans and Toddy Kandler. In addition to her husband, Nellie was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law Edward Ruscher; sisters Mary (Peter) Bongers and Gertrude (Joseph) Vandenberg; brothers Henry (Ellen) and Antone Verhoeven; father and mother-in-law John and Hattie Vanevenhoven; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Angeline (Willard) VandenHeuvel, Ervin (Martha), Henry (Harriet), Howard, Rosemary, Ray (Rita) and Ralph (Angeline) Vanevenhoven, Lillian (Martin) Thyssen, Marian (Nick) Kavanaugh and Wilbert Vissers. Visitation will be held Tuesday April 6, 2009 beginning at 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass at 11:00 a.m. at ST. JOHN NEPOMUCENE CATHOLIC CHURCH (323 S. Pine St. Little Chute). The Rev. Msgr. James Vanden Hogen will officiate. Committal St. John Cemetery. Nellie's family would like to thank the staff at Brewster Village for their loving care.
