Monte James passed away on September 12, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.  He was born on July 22, 1933 to the late Joseph and Clara (Rasmussen) James and the youngest of ten children.  On November 7, 1959, he was united in marriage to Dora Pfeiffer at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Crandon, WI.  They were blessed with three children:  Brian, Roger (Theresa), and Cheryl; one granddaughter, Kari (Nick); and two great grandsons:  Emerson and Braxston.

He attended Hiles grade school and graduated from Crandon High School in 1951.  Monte was a very loving and fun jokester and a hardworking man.  He had various jobs over the years, but was primarily a farmer.  Family, farming, cows, horses, hunting, and the outdoors are what he truly loved.

One of his greatest joys in life was spending time with his wife, children, granddaughter, and great grandsons, sharing love, hugs, and giggles.

Another passion was his horses, whether it was training, working the land, riding, or trail rides.  He enjoyed sharing this passion by inviting family and friends to fun, adventurous wagon and sleigh rides on the farm and forestry roads in the Nicolet National Forest and trail rides elsewhere.

Monte and Dora liked traveling the western United States and Canada, especially the Rocky Mountains.  They were both very active with family, friends, work, and farming.  Together, they loved dancing, playing baseball at family gatherings, snowmobiling, and family vacations.

Monte will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, fun, loving and caring Dad, Grandpaw, and Papa.  Nieces and nephews will remember him for his teasing and always keeping the fun going.

A private family ceremony will be held.

In God's care, rest in eternal peace Monte, Dad, Grandpaw, and Papa.  We love you and will miss you every day.  We know you are with us and your memory will be locked inside our hearts and minds until we meet again.
