Obituary

Minor "Mac" MacPherson, age 81, of Kimberly, formerly of Fort Edward, NY, passed away at Appleton Medical Center on Thursday, July 31, 2014. He was born December 20, 1932 to the late Renton and Marie MacPherson of Rochester, NY. Mac was a Korean War veteran in the United States Army. When he was honorably discharged from the Army, Mac moved with a buddy from the Army to Fort Edward, NY. It is here that he met the love of his life, Barbara Ann Gannon. They were married on October 23, 1955. Mac worked for the CibaGeigy-Hercules Plant in Hudson Falls, NY for 35 years, until his retirement due to health reasons. He was a very kind man who would help anyone and never expected anything in return. He loved working with his hands and could build just about anything. Mac was a huge Packer and NASCAR fan. His favorite driver was Jimmy Johnson.

Barb and Mac moved to Wisconsin in December 1996 to be with their daughter and son-in-law. Mac is survived by his loving wife, Barb; and his caring daughter, Linda Bovair. He is also survived by a half-sister, Arleine and half-brother, Bill; sister-in-law, Harriet Smatko; sister and brother-in-law, James and Phoebe Gannon; many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends in Fort Edward, NY and numerous Wisconsin friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Bryan Bovair; brother, Ronnie; and many other relatives.

Visitation for family and friends will be held Sunday, August 3, 2014 at O'CONNELL FUNERAL HOME (1776 E. Main St. Little Chute) beginning at 4:00 p.m. until time of funeral at 6:00 p.m. with the Rev. Norm Krutzik officiating. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established in Mac's name for the Old Glory Honor Flight.

The family would like to thank the staff at Appleton Medical Center; Mac's family physician, Dr. Michael Johnson; and the staff, especially Cindy and Randy at Primary Care Associates for all the great care given to Mac. Thank you to the many friends who have stopped by to visit and share stories and laughs with Mac, especially Rich and Kelly, Gary and Debbie, Tracy, Dan and Bev. Mac had three very special friends who were always, always there to help with whatever the family needed. Ernesto, Ublado and German Lopez were like Mac's other kids. Also a special thanks to Fr. Norm Krutzik for baptizing Mac into the Catholic faith community in March 2014, and to Bernie Talens for questioning Linda's friend, Mary Ann Gruber, whether Mac was ever baptized. Had it not been for Bernie, Mac would not have received the gift of baptism.
