Michael P.
Immekus
June 2, 1953 – June 25, 2024
Michael P. Immekus, Appleton, passed away peacefully at home with loved ones after a short but hard fought battle with cancer on Tuesday, June 25, 2024. He was born in Milwaukee, WI on June 2, 1953 to Harold and Edith (Friedrich) Immekus. Michael was raised within a Christian way. He attended St. Peter Church Lutheran School and had a strong faith. Michael raised two daughters Dannell and Shelly from a previous marriage to Barbara Joseph.
He moved to Appleton, WI in 1980 to continue to achieve his 30 year teamster pension working as a truck mechanic and driving dump truck. Although often laid off due to the seasonal nature of his job, his strong work ethic always ensured he found work in the off season. Michael retired at 57 and then worked part time until 63. Upon that retirement, he spent the next 13 years helping elderly ladies with yardwork and snow removal. Not one to sit around, he was called out of retirement in 2010 and drove dump truck at Calnin & Goss for another 4 years. Cars and motorcycles were a big part of his life also. He met Jan in 2001 and they were married in 2005. Traveling then became their life. Whether on motorcycles or their SSR so many memories were made traveling the back roads to 41 states. Upon Jan's retirement they started to spend February in Florida and he always looked forward to planning their next vacation. Hunting, fishing and cutting wood with his pals, Keith, Vern, and Wally were among his favorite pastimes. Holiday with the family gathered was very important to him. Mike was a member of the Appleton Yacht Club and he was always looking to make friends.
Mike is survived by his wife Jan; daughters: Dannell (Ric) Blough and their children Luke and Peyton; Shelly (Brad) Quella, and their children Gavin and Kira; step-daughter Amy (Timm) Powell, Billy Matovich; sister Joanne Rick; sister-in-law, Jeanne Immekus; and special friends Jay and Jamie. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold W. and Edith Immekus; and brother, Harold R. Immekus.
