Michael J.
Clancy
March 1, 1943 – November 22, 2025
Mr. Michael John "Mike" Clancy, age 82, passed away peacefully on November 22, 2025, at Brewster Village in Appleton, Wisconsin. Born on March 1, 1943, in Greenleaf, Wisconsin, Mike lived a life fueled by passion, perseverance, and a deep love for family and automobiles.
Mike was the proud owner and operator of Clancy's Auto, Kaukauna, where he built a reputation as being skilled with bodywork of vehicles, automobile restoration, used car sales and was a trusted businessman. His dedication to his craft and his customers made his shop a cornerstone of the community. Whether under the hood of a car or sharing stories with longtime clients, Mike brought integrity and heart to everything he did.
His lifelong enthusiasm for racing and classic cars was well known among those who knew him. From the roar of engines at local tracks to the gleam of polished chrome at car shows, Mike found joy in every aspect of automotive culture. His knowledge and appreciation for all things mechanical were matched only by his willingness to share that passion with others.
Following his passion for racing, Mike provided tow truck service at De Pere Speedway and Wisconsin International Raceway, President of the Fox River Racing Club at Wisconsin International Raceway 1996-97. Mike was then inducted into the Wisconsin International Raceway Circle of Fame on July 1, 2021.
Mike's greatest pride was his family. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Karen (Nott) (Luebke) Clancy; his children: Sean (Patty) Clancy, Neenah; Michael "Mickey" (Connie) Clancy Jr., Kaukauna; and Karen E. (Jill Uitenbroek) Clancy, Little Chute; and sister, Kathy (Jim) Drake. He embraced his extended family with open arms: stepchildren: Christopher (Kathryn) Luebke, Milwaukee; Barbara (Erik) Hopfensperger, Greenville; and Brian (Amy) Luebke, Neenah.
Mike was a proud grandfather to Kris (Emma) and Matthew Clancy; Haley (significant other Austin Seybold) Clancy, Hannah (Sawyer) Huss, Jordan, and Cameron Clancy. He also cherished his step-grandchildren: Steven, Josephine, Noelle, Annaliese, Isabella, Triah Luebke; Maizie, Jenson, Ryden, Hadley Hopfensperger; Madilyn, Grace, and Claire Luebke; and great grandson, JJ Luebke.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Catherine (Daley) Clancy; as well as his son, Gerry Clancy; and daughter-in-law, Kathy (Hegner) Clancy.
Mike's legacy lives on not only through the family who loved him but also through the countless cars he painted and restored vehicles he repaired, races he cheered on or participated in, and friendships forged over shared stories in the garage or at the track.
May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and inspiration to all who shared in his passions.
A Celebration of Mike's life will be held December 7, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Dick and Joan's Supper Club (220 N. Lynndale Drive, Appleton). Memorials may be made to the Stroke Support Group of Northeast Wisconsin (2710 Executive Dr. Green Bay, WI 54301.
A heartfelt thank you to the staff at Brewster Village and Compassus Hospice, especially Tracy, Alex, Tasha, and Craig, for their kindness in caring for Mike and his family.
