Marvin K.
Peterson
March 6, 1938 – November 12, 2025
Marvin K. Peterson, age 87, died peacefully early Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at Ballard Glenn Assisted Living in Appleton. Marvin was born March 6, 1938, in Bear Creek to the late Harry and Meta (Lichtenberg) Peterson. Following his graduation from Clintonville High School, Marvin enlisted in the United States Army, serving overseas in Korea during peacetime. He married the love of his life, Joyce Sapkaris, on September 1, 1962, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bear Creek. Together, they raised their four daughters, spending almost 50 years together before her death in 2009. Marvin loved her dearly and missed her every day.
Marvin spent his career with Fox Valley Construction as a machine operator. He was passionate and a strong advocate for the Operating Engineers Local 139. Marvin was always happy outside, whether it was time spent in the garden or in the woods. He especially enjoyed deer hunting, though he never minded chasing after turkey or coyotes, either. Above all, Marvin cherished his family and the time he spent with them.
Marvin will be deeply missed by his daughters: Deanna (Dan) Vanden Heuvel, Michele (Stephan) Daniels, Nicole (Todd) Driessen, and Chantay Peterson; and his grandchildren: Danielle and Denae Vanden Heuvel, Brianna (significant other Lauren) Daniels, Kaylee (Gavin) Breyfogle, Chase (significant other Katie) Driessen, and Saylor Driessen. He is further survived by his brother, Gary (Kathy) Peterson; his sister-in-law, Patsy Sapkaris Word; and his special nephews, Arlyn Splitt and Brad Peterson; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
In addition to his parents, Marvin is preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Joyce; and his siblings: Virginia (Ed) Splitt, Leon Peterson, Reuben Peterson, Elaine (Toivo) Lahti, Ramona (Orville) Splitt, and Janice (Jerry) Schroeder.
Our family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at Ballard Glenn and St Croix Hospice for brightening our Father's days this past year and for the kindness and care they showed in his final moments.
Visitation for Marvin will be held Monday, November 17, 2025, at O'CONNELL FUNERAL HOME (1776 E.
