Obituary

Martin V. Porto, Neenah, age 81, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family, on Wednesday, January 23, 2019. He was born in Neenah on September 19, 1937 to the late Anthony and Irene Miller Porto. Martin married Loretta Eva Bretthauer at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Menasha on July 16, 1960. She preceded him in death on March 8, 2002.

Martin served honorably in the Navy aboard the USS Coral Sea from 1959-63 and was a member and past commander of the Appleton American Legion Post 38. He worked at Plexus as an electronics technician until his retirement in 2002. Martin also taught mathematics at Fox Valley Technical College. Martin and his beloved wife Loretta were proud of the seven children they raised together. They enjoyed occasional travel adventures, the highlight of which was their train trip through Canada. After retirement, Martin loved entertaining nursing home residents around the Fox Valley with his music. He had a lifelong love for mathematics and attending the EAA every summer. His favorite piece of advice to his children was to always look to God in times of trouble.
