Obituary

Marlene M. Hemauer, Appleton, age 81, passed away on Thursday, September 6, 2018 after an 8-year struggle with Alzheimer's disease. She was born in Fond du Lac on June 27, 1937 to the late John G. and Delphine (Nadler) Basler. Marlene married David Hemauer at St. Mary's Church in Chilton on June 21, 1958. She worked in the deli department at Piggly Wiggly in Menasha for 15 years before her retirement. Marlene enjoyed many hobbies before her diagnosis, including gardening flowers and vegetables, canning, sewing, and antiquing. She also enjoyed casino trips with her friend, Marge Bevers.

Marlene is survived by her husband of 60 years, David; daughters: Karri (Joe) Schulz, Appleton; and Kristi Hemauer, Appleton; daughter-in-law: Kris Hemauer, Mounds View, MN; grandchildren: Justin Hemauer, Emily (Eric) Winkel, Jessica (friend Nick Everson) Schulz, Laura Schulz, and Jenna (Chris) Morris; and great-grandson, Lincoln Winkel. She is also survived by her brothers: Leroy (Sandy) Basler and Dennis Basler; and sisters-in-law and brother-in-law: Pat Basler, Mary Criter, and Willard Hemauer. Numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive her.

In addition to her parents, Marlene was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey Hemauer; brother, John N. Basler; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Art (Rosie) Hemauer, Margaret (Arthur) Daun, Earl (Chris) Hemauer, Chuck (Joan) Hemauer, Mary Hemauer, and Don Criter.

No services will be held. We would like to extend an invitation to family and friends to gather for a celebration of Marlene's life on October 6, 2018 at STONE TOAD BAR & GRILL (1109 S. Oneida St., Menasha) from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. A memorial fund will be established to support the Alzheimer's Association.

The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers at Brillion West Haven and Heartland Hospice for the care Marlene received.
