Marie R. Peterson, age 97, died Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at the St. Paul Home. She was born July 23, 1922 in Sherwood, WI, the daughter of the late Rudolph and Mary (Horn) Eckes. Marie was united in marriage to the love of her life, Robert Peterson, on November 18, 1943. He preceded her in death on August 1, 1997 after almost 54 years of marriage.

Marie is survived by her daughter, Theresa (Ralph) Vannett of Kaukauna; grandchildren: David (Lori) Vanett of Black Creek and Christine (Rob) Schuh of Freedom; four great grandchildren: Jacob and Sydney Vannett, and Alexis and Brooke Schuh; and sister, Clara Spence of Appleton. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents; husband Robert; brothers: Hilary, Roman, and Fredrick Eckes; and sister, Margaret Morse. She was also preceded in death by additional members of her family and Robert's family.

Visitation will be held Saturday, August 10, 2019 at O'CONNELL FUNERAL HOME (1776 E. Main St. Little Chute) beginning at 9:00 a.m. until time of Funeral at 11:00 a.m. Deacon Vincent De Groot will officiate. Committal Holy Cross Cemetery.

Special thanks to the nursing staff at St. Paul Home on Primrose Lane. Also a special thank you to Evelyn, who could always make her laugh, and physical therapists, Allie and Brian.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established for therapy dog training to honor Mom's therapy dog, Bella, who always made her smile.
