Obituary

Marie A. De Bruin, Little Chute, age 91 died peacefully Saturday January 30, 2010 at St. Elizabeth Hospital with family by her side. She was born in Little Chute on August 22, 1918 to the late Peter and Catherine (Maas) Verhoeven. Marie married Antone P. De Bruin on February 14, 1946 at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, where she was a lifelong member. He preceded her in death May 15, 1989. Marie was a devoted wife, loving mother, and wonderful grandmother. She loved her children and grandchildren and her support and encouragement were never-ending. Marie's faith was also very important to her and she lived it every day.
Marie always looked forward to get-togethers and holidays and would often cook a large meal for her family. She also loved spending time outside and tending to her garden. The summer months were her favorite when she could enjoy fresh strawberries, garden vegetables, and home-grown apples.
Marie is survived by her children: Alvin "Butch" (Virginia), Appleton; Gerald (Diane), Little Chute; Robert (Patricia), Little Chute; Linda (John) Schuh, Little Chute; and William (Sidney), TX; grandchildren: Wendy (Rick) Gilbertson, Tricia (Andy) Yeager, Peggy (Todd) Brokl, Jill (Luke) Markus, Kristen (Scott) Everson, Sarah (Jozef) Michalski, John (Miranda), Anne and Katie Schuh, Mike (fiancée Bobbi Jo), Rob, Caitlin, Dominic, Nicolet, Nate and Anthony De Bruin; great grandchildren: Bailey and Autumn Gilbertson, Olivia Yaeger, Page and Emily Brokl and Alex Everson with two on the way; and brother and sisters-in-law: Myron "Bud" Meulemans, Ceil Nelessen and Rita De Bruin. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Marie was preceded in death by her granddaughter Amy De Bruin; sister Frances Meulemans; and brothers and sisters-in-law: Bernard (Margaret), Quintin (Joan) and Urban De Bruin, Benedict (Jen) Hoersch, Urban (Betty) and Clarence Nelessen.
Visitation will be held Tuesday February 2, 2010 beginning at 3:00 p.m. until time of Mass at 5:00 p.m. at ST. JOHN NEPOMUCENE CATHOLIC CHURCH (323 S. Pine St. Little Chute). The Rev. Paul Vanden Hogen will officiate. Committal St. John Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established.
Marie's family would like to send a special thank you the staff at St. Paul Home for the love and care given to her. The family would also like to thank St. Elizabeth Hospital staff for making her final days comfortable and peaceful.
