Marian "Mickey" Lamers, age 89, of Darboy, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 30, 2026.
Marian was born on March 19, 1937, to Barney and Verna (Huss) Van Handel. Marian, affectionately known as Mickey, was a 1955 graduate of Kaukauna High School. Mickey married Marvin Lamers on October 1st, 1958, at Holy Angels Catholic Church with a party that followed at Van Abel's. They were married for nearly 60 years until his passing in 2018. Together they raised a beautiful and large family. Mickey would rattle off her children’s names in birth order, to anyone who would listen. She was very proud of her 11 children, 27 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren (and 2 more on the way!). Mickey was known for her kindness, spunky personality, and LOVE for Jesus. She found a lot of joy in volunteering at St. Elizabeth Hospital with Spiritual Services and making thousands of pounds of homemade Angel Food candy over the years.
Mickey is survived by her children: Karla Schmitt, Jeff Lamers, Mark Lamers, Judy (Jeff) Martin, Steve Lamers, Nancy Lamers, Gary (Tracy) Lamers, Patsy (Brian) Van Camp, Peggy (Tim) Aerts, and Jill (Randy) Sprangers. Mickey is further survived by relatives Bernice Bougie, David (Judy) Van Handel, Rita (Gene) Wieczorek, sisters-in-law Mutz Van Handel and Mary Jo Lamers.
Mickey was greeted at the gates of Heaven by her husband, Marvin, and daughter, Jane; parents, Barney and Verna Van Handel; step-mother, Ruby Van Handel; Marv’s parents, Edward and Anna Lamers; and relatives: Dolores (Ray Zuleger and Vern Boyer) Zuleger-Boyer; Roger Van Handel; Eugene Van Handel I; Eugene Van Handel II; Rick Hietpas; Florence (Tom) Rooyakkers; Rita (Ralph) Gorchals; Don (Margaret) Lamers; Sylvan (Shirley) Lamers; Roderic Lamers; and Vern Lamers.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at O'CONNELL FUNERAL HOME (1776 E. Main Street, Little Chute) beginning at 4:00 p.m. and concluding 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue the morning of Wednesday, July 8, at HOLY SPIRIT PARISH - KIMBERLY CHURCH (620 E. Kimberly Avenue, Kimberly) beginning at 9:00 a.m. and concluding at 10:45 a.m. Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Carl Schmitt officiating and Rev. Donald Zuleger (Mickey's nephew) concelebrating. Entombment will take place at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton.
