Marcella B. "Cella" Hurst, Appleton, age 67, died Thursday, February 25, 2021 at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center – Appleton, as a result of Covid-19. She was born on December 20, 1953 in Stephenson, MI to the late Harold and Marjorie (Gaffney) Corey. Cella married Kenneth B. Hurst, Jr. on June 10, 1974 at Holy Name Parish in Kimberly. Her hobbies included sewing, quilting, planting flowers in the spring, and essential oils (which we fondly referred to as her voodoo witch oils). Cella also enjoyed watching the Milwaukee Brewers, going to the "little house" at Captain's Cove and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the Kimberly American Legion Auxiliary. Cella loved to sing karoke and had a voice that would fill a room.
Cella is survived by her husband of 46 years, Ken; children: Corey (Beth) Hurst, Combined Locks WI; Martha (Chuck) Monroe, Appleton WI; Kenneth B. (Shalene) Hurst lll, Appleton WI; and Jessica Hurst, Kaukauna WI; grandchildren: Ava Hurst, Elle Hurst, Fisher Hurst, Isaac Monroe, Adeline Monroe, Amelia Monroe, Annalise Monroe, Dylan Schmid and special friend Tori Nelson, Jon Schmid, Ken Hurst IV, Alex Hurst, Taylor Martin, Hayden Martin, Austin Martin, Bailey Hurst, Leland Hurst and Laythan Hurst; great grandchildren: Nikolai Nelson and Kodha Schmid; siblings: Rose Fox, Cathy (Richard) Seidl, Bruce (Kim) Corey, Judy (Tim) Roberts, Allen (Lisa) Corey, Brad Corey, Marjorie DeGrave, Jackie (Rick) Wallace, and Bryan (Karen Dalton) Corey; and brothers and sisters-in-law: Dan (Tweetie) Hurst, Gary (Betz) Hurst, Richard (Joyce) Hurst, Pam (Shorty) Watkins, Jean (Steve) Reffke, Greg (Pam) Hurst, Jay Hurst, Joan (Terry) Vanden Heuvel, and Dee (Todd) Bolwerk. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
In addition to her parents, Cella was preceded in death by her father and mother-in-law, Kenneth and Marcella Hurst; sister, Valerie Corey; brother-in-law, Bill DeGrave; and sister-in-law, Cindy Hurst.
Visitation will be held March 13, 2021 at ST. JOHN NEPOMUCENE CATHOLIC CHURCH (323 Pine St. Little Chute) beginning at 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass at 12:00 Noon. The Rev. Ronald Belitz will officiate with Deacon Bruce Corey (Cella's brother) assisting.
