Lorna Mae
Moldenhauer
September 22, 1932 – June 12, 2017
Lorna Mae Moldenhauer, Appleton, age 84, died on Monday, June 12, 2017 at the Darboy Assisted Living Center, a caring and loving community, after a long battle with Dementia. From her birth on September 22, 1932 to her death on Monday, she was a lifelong faithful Lutheran who nourished people around her with love, faith, and her endless giving spirit and creativity. She was born in Mayville, Wisconsin to Henry and Julia Weltz and was the youngest of four children. Lorna discovered her passion for sewing and creating at an early age and became an accomplished seamstress, quilter, crafter, and dollmaker that carried on throughout her life. Shortly after graduating from Shawano High School in 1951, she married her beloved high school sweetheart, William Moldenhauer, on November 22, 1952. After William concluded his duty with the United States Air Force, they returned to Wisconsin. William and Lorna lived in Oshkosh and Milwaukee for a time before settling down for good in Appleton, where they raised their children.
Left to honor Lorna and remember her love is her husband of 64 years, William; three children: Sherry (Randy) Thater, Terry Moldenhauer, and Julia (Justin) True; five grandchildren: Ryan Thater, Russell Thater, Emily Heindel, Giselle Aviad and Oscar True; three great grandchildren: Renee, Lillia and River; and many nieces and nephews.
Lorna was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Vernon Weltz; sister, Shirley Chizek; and an infant brother.
Lorna will be remembered as a sweet, shining light who welcomed one and all into her home with a smile and a hug.
