Obituary

Lola Mae Vanden-Wyngaard, age 94, passed away on June 25, 2026, at Hartland Place in Hartland, WI, of natural causes. She was born on May 2, 1932 in Appleton. Lola was the daughter of the late Elmer W. and Ellen E. (Kimball) Luedtke, Sr. In 1952 she graduated from Appleton High School. On April 8, 1982, Lola married Maureanus W. “Mory” Vanden-Wyngaard.

Being employed for 20 years at Appleton Medical Center as a CNA, many friendships were formed with her co-workers. Lola was a loving caring soul that always gave to others in her thoughts and prayers. God guided her in this role starting with the love of raising her precious children. This lead to be Lola’s lifetime mission to always serve others before herself.

Family was first, especially the enjoyment of holidays. Memories of her childhood were often the topic of the day. Reading and watching the Packers, along with Bingo on Fridays with her community of friends at Hartland Place was the highlight of the day. A remembrance in the eyes of her grandchildren was that she was a very clean and tidy person. Her nickname was “Grandma Clorox”. The love of them being around made her day. The sweetness and smiles she gave away, always came back for another day.

She is survived by three sons: Jeffrey (Jeanie) Whiting, Gregory (Jennifer) Whiting, Dennis (Debbie) Whiting; and one daughter, Lynda (Tom) Schmidt; along with eight grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren; and one brother, Elmer W. (Karen) Luedtke, Jr.; plus many nieces and nephews. She is further survived by Mory’s children: Alan (Patricia), Tom (Julie), Rick (Laura), Dawn Vanden-Wyngaard (daughter-in-law), and Susie (Rick) Kain; along with 16 step-grandchildren; and 11 step-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Lola was preceded in death by her husband, Maureanus W. Vanden-Wyngaard; and the father of her children, Lawrence E. Whiting.

Coming from a large family of 17 children, preceding Lola in death were her nine sisters: Elizabeth Sackett, Martha Pompa-Kuhn, Geane Litcher, Carrie Mannagan, Patrica Worden, Mary Brouillard, Sandra Wentworth, June Lokken, and Helen Prey; and six brothers: Francis, Robert, Victor, Jack, Donald and Carlton Luedtke.

A Celebration of Life will be held on July 28, 2026, at CHRIST THE SERVANT LUTHERAN CHURCH (2016 Center Road, Waukesha). Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m.

An additional Celebration of Life will be held on July 29, 2026 at HIGHLAND MEMORIAL PARK CHAPEL (3131 N. Richmond Street, Appleton). Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Karen Pahl will officiate at both services. Interment will follow. A memorial is being established.

A heartfelt thank you to the staff of Hartland Place and Elite Hospice for their compassion and care. Blessings to mom’s friend Mary for her special friendship.
