Obituary

Lester C. Haack, Combined Locks, age 95, died peacefully at his home on Thursday, September 2, 2021.  He was born in Rio Creek, Wisconsin on March 18, 1926 to the late William and Elsie (Obry) Haack. Lester married Joyce Horkman in Green Bay on October 25, 1947.  She preceded him in death on June 1, 2015 after 67 years of marriage.  He proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II, was a 50 year member of the William Verhagen American Legion Post 60, and served as a member of their Color Guard for 25 years.  Lester enjoyed playing cards, watching The Price is Right, listening to polka music, deer hunting, fishing, and spending time at the family cottage in Stiles.  He also looked forward to visiting with his many friends at Kamps and the Wishing Well.

Lester is survived by his children:  Carl (Susan) Haack, Menasha; Roy Haack, Kimberly; Lester (Pam) Haack, Appleton; Michael Haack, Gillett; Susan Haack, Shawano; Carol (Jim Burton) Nelson, Appleton; Julie Weyland, Appleton; and Joyce (Greg) Sigl, Seymour; grandchildren:  Carl (Kirsten), Steve (Lorraine), Tim, Lisa (Joe) Coenen, Roy II, Melinda Vande Hey, Larry, Sherrie (John) Swanson, Lisa, Lester (Tina), Ricky (Jodie) Gostas, Michael, Brian, Kimberly (Tom) Small, Robert, and William Pownell, Jesse (Jessica), Nicole (James) Whitaker, Eric Berg, Tracy (Robert) Long, Rachel Forster, Joshua, and Melissa Weyland, Justin, Shawna (fiancé Paul Mastey), Maxwell, and Stephanie Sigl; sister-in-law, Beverly Strickenbach; and brother-in-law, Dick Schott.  He is further survived by many great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents and wife, Joyce, Lester was preceded in death by his sons, Larry and Rick; daughter-in-law, Linda; granddaughter, Heather Sigl; great granddaughter, Lorie Lee; brothers:  Ralph (Evelyn), Maynard (Arvilla) and Melvin Haack; sisters:  Eleanor (Felix) Romvald and Lorraine (Earl) Ludvigsen; brother-in-law, Frank Strickenbach; and sister-in-law, Bernadine Schott.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at ST. LUKE LUTHERAN CHURCH (705 E. Greenfield Drive, Little Chute) from 11:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m., followed by the Funeral at 1:00 p.m.  The Rev. Ronald Szep will officiate.  Military honors, conducted by the William Verhagen American Legion Post 60, will immediately follow at Committal Union Cemetery, Kaukauna.
