Leonard C. Tessen, age 86, of Kimberly, passed away on Tuesday afternoon, October 3, 2023, at Cherry Meadows Hospice, with his family by his side. He was born on February 24, 1937, to the late Alfred and Emma (Gorges) Tessen. On January 10, 1959, he married the love of his life, Lois Westphal, in Gillett, Wisconsin. They shared 48 wonderful years together until her passing on September 14, 2007.
Len worked at Warehouse Specialists until his retirement. Following retirement, he stayed active working part-time as a mail clerk for Outagamie County. Len was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Appleton. He enjoyed watching the Packers, playing cards, and playing Bingo with fellow residents at the Hallmark Place in Kimberly, where he lived.
He will be sadly missed by his loving children: Steve (Special Friend Sandy) Tessen, of Neenah; Gary (Linda) Tessen, of Kaukauna; Doug (Vicki) Tessen, of Kimberly; Jeff (Janet) Tessen, of Kimberly; Debbie (Special Friend Kris) Tessen, of Menasha; as well as several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is further survived by his siblings-in-law: Melvin (Esther) Westphal, Carl Schoessel, Carol Westphal, Paul (Rhoda) Rittmueller, and Dick (Sue) Pillsbury.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Leonard is preceded in death by his brothers, Lee (Rita) Tessen, and Harold Tessen; and his siblings-in-law: Lorettta Schoessel, and Rev. Leroy Westphal.
The family would like to thank the staff at Cherry Meadows, ThedaCare At Home Hospice and The Caring Hearts program at ThedaCare.
Visitation for Len will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at GOOD SHEPHERD LUTHERAN CHURCH (2220 E. College Ave, Appleton) beginning at 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Timothy Seabaugh officiating. Committal Riverside Cemetery.
